Elderly Day Care in Trafford: What a Typical Day Looks Like

A typical day of elderly day care at Diverse Active Living Day Service begins with a warm welcome and door-to-door transport, followed by a morning of friendly activities, a freshly prepared hot lunch, and a calmer, more restful afternoon. Older adults from across Trafford spend the day in a sociable, supportive setting, with staff who take the time to get to know each person. The centre runs Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm, from Barton Road in Stretford.

Arrival and door-to-door transport

Many families worry about how their relative will get to and from a day centre. We offer wheelchair-accessible door-to-door transport services covering Stretford, Sale, Urmston, Altrincham, Old Trafford, Davyhulme and Flixton, so the day starts without the stress of arranging lifts. On arrival there is time to settle in with a hot drink and a chat before the morning gets going.

A sociable morning

Mornings are built around what each person enjoys. Because our person-centred adult day care service shapes activities around individual interests and abilities rather than a fixed timetable, no two mornings look quite the same. On any given day you might find:

  • Arts and crafts, or music and singing
  • Board games and quizzes
  • Gardening and baking
  • Gentle exercise to keep people moving

Group activities sit alongside quieter one-to-one time, so no one feels rushed or overwhelmed.

A freshly prepared hot lunch

Around midday everyone sits down together for a freshly prepared hot lunch. Meals are cooked on site and can be adapted for dietary, cultural and texture needs, and mealtimes are as much about company and conversation as they are about the food.

A calmer afternoon

After lunch the pace slows down. Afternoons often include reminiscence, a hand massage, a gentle activity or simply relaxed conversation. By the time transport home arrives, most people leave having been active, well fed and part of a friendly community for the day.

Support that suits your family

Established in 2016, Diverse Active Living supports older adults, including those living with dementia and other additional support needs. Standard hours are 10am to 3pm, and Extra Relief Support can offer early morning (8-10am) or evening (3-7pm) sessions by arrangement if you need a little more cover.

Whether day care is funded through a Trafford Council needs assessment, a direct payment, Attendance Allowance or self-funding depends on the assessment and your circumstances. Our fees are tailored to each person, so it is best to get in touch for a personalised quote.

Families are always welcome to visit and see a typical day for themselves before making any decision. Get in touch to arrange a visit or ask any questions, and we would be glad to show you around.
