Our dementia day care service provides person-centred support for adults living with dementia across Manchester and Trafford. We understand that dementia affects everyone differently, and we take time to learn about each person — their history, their routines and what brings them comfort — so that our support feels familiar, reassuring and genuinely helpful.
Structured routines play an important role in our approach. Familiarity and consistency can make a significant difference to how a person with dementia feels throughout the day, and we work to create a calm, welcoming environment that reduces anxiety and supports engagement. Our team communicates with patience and warmth, and adapts their approach to each individual's needs as they change over time.
The service runs Monday to Friday from 10am to 3pm. During the day, individuals take part in activities suited to their interests and abilities, enjoy a freshly prepared meal, and receive support from our experienced team. Support plans are developed in consultation with families and reviewed regularly to reflect any changes in needs or preferences.
Days are built around gentle, familiar activities that encourage engagement without pressure. Morning sessions often include music, games, reminiscence activities or gentle movement. After a communal lunch — which is an important social occasion in itself — afternoon activities are generally calmer, such as music, hand massage or one-to-one time with a member of staff. The routine is designed to provide security and predictability.
We provide person-centred day care support for adults living with dementia, focusing on familiar routines, meaningful activities and a calm, welcoming environment. Our team takes time to understand each person individually — including their history, preferences and daily patterns — so that support feels personal and reassuring.
We support adults with various forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia. We encourage you to contact us to discuss the specific needs of your loved one so we can advise on whether our service is the right fit for their current stage and situation.
We use consistent routines to provide familiarity and security, which many people with dementia find helpful. Activities include memory games, music, reminiscence, gentle movement and social time — all adapted to the person's stage and preferences. Staff take time to engage with each person individually throughout the day.
We aim to keep families informed about how their loved one is getting on. We welcome conversations with families and carers and encourage regular contact to discuss any changes, concerns or preferences. You are welcome to call or visit the centre at any time.
We recommend comfortable, practical clothing, and any personal items that may provide comfort or familiarity — such as a favourite photograph or a familiar object. If your loved one has any specific dietary requirements or medical needs, please discuss these with us before they start so we can plan accordingly.
